Hello Lovely You!
What did you eat today?
Did you eat dangerous food today?
If you’re like a lot of people, it was something that wasn’t good for you. If you’re like some people, it was something that was potentially dangerous for you.
Cancer self-help is all about gaining knowledge so you can make the healthiest decisions and get well. This blog post is going to share some disturbing but important knowledge that you need to arm yourself with.
Did you know that the European Union (EU) prohibits food additives and various chemicals that have been linked to cancer? But these same additives and chemicals are still widely used in American manufactured foods? Does this make you angry to learn? It should.
The EU has also banned several drugs that are commonly used in farming animals here in the US, and many European countries limit the cultivation and import of genetically modified foods. And yet the US has no problem advertising/pushing and selling these foods to the public.
How does the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), you know, the government agency that’s supposed to be looking out for our health and best interests (yeah, right), condone the use of dangerous ingredients in food manufacturing? Well, a 1958 amendment to the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act prohibits the agency from approving ingredients that have been linked to cancer. Unfortunately, many substances were in use in the food manufacturing industry before the passage of that amendment, and since they had prior approval, they are not currently regulated as food additives.
Now if you’re a sane and rational human being with a heart, you are probably saying, “Well what does it matter what year ingredients were approved? If they’ve since been linked to C-A-N-C-E-R, why don’t they stop them from being used now for the sake of the American’s people’s health?”
Well, that would make too much sense, now wouldn’t it? The truth is, most politicians and corporate bigwigs don’t care about you – they care about profit. That is the cold, hard reality.
It’s up to all of us to take care of ourselves and our family by buying organic produce and reading labels on the foods we buy to make sure they don’t contain dangerous ingredients.
Here are some of the biggest culprits to look out for:
Potassium Bromate and Azodicarbonamide (ADA)
You will usually find these additives, which are both banned in Europe because they may cause cancer, in baked goods. In recent years, after some pushback from American consumers, some restaurant chains have removed these ingredients from their foods.
A little history: The International Agency for Research on Cancer considers potassium bromate a possible human carcinogen and the Center for Science in the Public Interest petitioned the F.D.A. to ban it nearly 20 years ago. The FDA responded by saying the ingredient has been in use since before the 1958 amendment. So that’s that.
And, while the Center for Science in the Public Interest has urged the F.D.A. to ban the use of ADA, which has been found to cause cancer in lab animals, the FDA says it’s safe in limited amounts.

BHA and BHT
These are flavor enhancers and preservatives and are subject to SEVERE restriction in Europe. But over here in America? They are WIDELY used. While there is a little bit of evidence to support the dangerous of BHT, BHA, on the other hand, has been listed in a United States Government report on carcinogens as “reasonably anticipated” to be a human carcinogen.
Brominated Vegetable Oil (BVO)
This ingredient usually shows up in citrus-flavored soft drinks like Mountain Dew and some sports drinks. It is used to prevent the separation of some ingredients, but guess what? It’s totally banned in Europe because it contains an ingredient found in flame retardants and studies have shown if it builds up in the body, it can cause memory loss and skin and nerve problems. Once again, the FDA has said it’s perfectly safe in limited amounts.
rBGH (rBST)
This is a hormone injected into cows to boost their milk production, so if you are drinking milk or eating cheese and yogurt from these cows, you’re ingesting this hormone. These growth hormones are banned not only in the EU, but also Canada and Japan because they cause illness in cows, which causes an increased need for antibiotics, and those end up in the milk as well. This hormone is also known for upping the presence of IGF, a hormone that’s linked to breast, colon and prostate cancer. Got cancer?
This is only a partial list of ingredients to watch out for. I encourage you to do your own digging to find out what other potentially deadly chemicals are in your food and stop eating dangerous food. And I IMPLORE you to read labels! To be really safe, stay 100000000% away from processed foods. Only eat organic produce and meats, eggs, nuts and seeds. This way you can control what goes in your body and keep you and your family safe.
Did you eat dangerous food today? I sure hope not.
Much love,
Prue.
