Laughing Cures Cancer

Hello Lovely You,

When did you last get your Vitamin L?

When did you have a full out belly LAUGH until your stomach hurt so much you couldn’t laugh anymore. Life, in general, can be tough these days let alone if you are struggling with cancer or another inflammatory disease.  You certainly don’t feel like joking around. In fact, most of the time, you feel angry, tearful, and are living in fear. That is no way to live.

Laughing Cures Cancer

Humor and laughter can have many positive effects. It can burn fat and tone muscles, improve memory and sleep, reduce inflammation, and boost your immune system. Laughter is free and has no adverse side effects. Studies show that people who can tap into their sense of humor when they are feeling stressed are much more resilient than those who can’t.

  • Find things you can do that make you laugh.
  • Find people who make you laugh and make you happy.
  • Be aware and open to the funny things that happen in your day.
  • Pay attention to the world around you because there are many things that can make you laugh.

Look for funny signs. How about this one?

Be a rebel and do something funny like I did in this store in New Zealand on my last visit home. The owner asked me to put the Kiwi bird down and leave the store!! Oops! New Zealanders are affectionately called “Kiwis.”

Go ahead and cry buckets and act goofy when you feel like it and laugh like a maniac. Scream if you want to. Do it with good intention and know that it is all part of your healing.

As infectious as laughter is, it is so good for your health. Humor has been used in medicine for thousands of years. One of the first mentions of laughter in medicine dates back more than 2000 years. The first well-known study of humor and health was the famous American journalist Norman Cousins. In his 1979 book Anatomy of an Illness, Cousins cured himself of a spinal condition with a self-prescribed regimen of laughter and vitamins.

Laughter is medicine – Laughter cures cancer.

My life is full of laughter, especially being in love with a hilarious man like my Dave.
