Lighten the load and try a little Cancer Self-help today!
Good morning lovely you,
It’s a cloudy, rainy day here in New England and we may reached the low 50’s! April is when we beg for the sun to shine and bring us her warmth and vitamin D, but it doesn’t look like we will be blessed with sunshine today. We’ll have to wait for tomorrow.
My little Zuzu is fed and sleeping right beside me, and my tea is steaming so I’m ready to write.
I love to dance and my Zumba instructor who is a flamboyant highly creative 27-year-old dressed up last week in vibrant dance club clothes and played 80’s music. I was singing and dancing to my heart’s content when Gloria Gaynor’s song, “I Will Survive” played and tears ran down my face. This was my go-to song when I needed to dig in hard and fight my fear of cancer and when my marriage ended.
When the going got tough, you would hear this song bellowing out in my neighborhood. I would dance around my living room singing as loud as I could. ” I Will Survive.” “I Will Survive.”
You are never too sick to sing this song. You are never too sick for a little “Cancer Self-help” and a big smile. If you are in a hospital bed put your headset on, move your hands, wiggle those toes and sing the words in your mind. If you are at home turn the volume way up and start singing. We all need a little cancer self-help!
Here is a free version on YouTube, so no excuses. Let’s go!
I can see you dancing and singing your heads off. You rock!
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I’ll stay alive
I’ve got all my life to live
And I’ve got all my love to give and I’ll survive
I will survive, hey, hey
Love you. Keeping singing and wiggle those toes!
